  Znakovni Ples, founded in 2022, is a Croatia-based, disability-led performing arts organisation advancing Signdance Theatre, a distinctive performance form that integrates sign language theatre, dance, and original music. While the organisation itself was established in 2022, it is rooted in an artistic practice that has been continuously created, performed, and developed internationally since the late 1980s by Maria De Graal (Isolte Avila) and David Bower. Their pioneering artistic collaboration established the foundations of Signdance Theatre, a unique performance language that brings together sign, movement, visual storytelling, theatre, and music. Today, Znakovni Ples serves as a platform for the continued evolution of this art form through new productions, international collaborations, sector partnerships, and inclusive cultural projects. Working with Deaf, disabled, and diverse artists, the organisation contributes to the development of accessible and innovative performance practices across Europe while strengthening the legacy and future of Signdance Theatre.
