    Founded in 2021 by Maria De Graal (Isolte Avila), the company develops and advances Signdance Theatre, an inclusive performance form that blends dance, sign language, and storytelling. Signdance was pioneered in the late 1980s

by Isolte Avila and David Bower, whose groundbreaking artistic collaboration established the foundations of sign‑based contemporary performance.

Led today by the artists who pioneered Signdance, the company continues to evolve the form through new creations, international collaborations, and sector partnerships.  Znakovni Ples works with Deaf and disabled artists with decades of experience, contributing to productions such as NOTIZEN and supporting the wider development

of sign‑based performance practice across Europe. Now based in Pula, the team collaborates with cultural partners, festivals, and institutions to strengthen the legacy and future of Signdance Theatre, ensuring the art form remains innovative, inclusive, and internationally relevant
