The Signdance Group, recognized as innovators in Signdance Theatre, is proudly led by a dynamic team of Deaf, disabled, and diverse producers and artists. Their unique perspectives and creative contributions significantly enhance the arts community, fostering a positive impact and inspiring audiences across the world
Signdance Collective was founded in 1987 in London and has established a strong presence in the arts by pioneering the art form known as Signdance Theatre. We have collaborated with many talented artists from around the world, which has greatly contributed to our growth. In 2020, we launched a new European company called Znakonvi Ples/Signdance in Croatia.
Our art form, Signdance Theatre, uniquely combines sign language, dance, and live music. This blend allows us to convey visual stories through movement, using sign language to express deep emotions within dance. By integrating sign language with contemporary dance, Signdance Theatre enhances emotional clarity and beauty on stage. This fusion fosters connections between Deaf and Hearing communities, enabling us to share and celebrate our shared human experiences..
NEWS
Signdance Group UK/Croatia and Transmitter Performance hit the road with the next phase of Notiizen/Noticias. The tour launches in Graz, Austria (May 21–June 2), before moving to Ljubljana for development at Jambor Studio (March 28–30) and into the Peer‑2‑Peer programme of the Ana Desetnica International Street Theatre Festival at the end of June and start of July. The tour also features performances at the Ana Desetnica International Street Theatre Festival itself.
From April 14–22, Notiizen continues to grow at the new home of Znakovni Ples in Pula, Croatia, where we welcome the local arts community to meet the company. Here, Signdance collaborates with the extraordinary puppetry artist Barbara Bulatović, with visual music by Transmitter Performance’s Angelina Schwammerlin.
UK summer dates run through July and August, including Bucks Culture Open Weekend and Wrexfest in North Wales.
